CU305PN with DMC20

Kristóf Eredics Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hello, actually I use a CU305PN+PM240-2 combination with an SMC20, but in the future I want to connect a second external encoder to this. Is it possible to use a DMC20 (with a second SMC20) to distribute the CU one DQ port ? If not, is it any other solution for this ? Thanks!

The CU305 has an integrated encoder interface. Maybe you can use that to integrate a second encoder. But you have to consider the limited performance of the S110. Especially if you are using EPOS and safety the S110 is operated at its limit and I guess a second encoder wouldn`t do any good. I would use a CU310-2 in future projects where you can add hubs and more SMC`s. Attachment S110.PNG (67 Downloads)

In this case can you suggest for me an S120 configuration for: - a CU320-2 PN - a power module - DMM for 18-20 Arms - external encoders connection via DriveCliq (2 pcs SMC20 with DMC20) - Sinamics STARTER software I'm not sure which serie will be perfect for me, and it will a testmachine for external axes. Thank you!

Technology Team Platinum Expert Joined: 10/11/2006 Last visit: 12/20/2024 Posts: 5974 Rating: (820)	Hello, because you are talking about a DMM (double motor module) and a CU320-2 I guess you are talking about a common DC bus setup. So I guess with power module you mean an infeed module. Otherwise you would have to use a control unit adapter CUA (CUA31 or CUA32) to connect a real AC/AC power module to your CU320-2 or you can use a CU310-2 to operate the power module as a single axis. I would recommend using the engineering tool SIZER. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/54992004. You can set up a proper configuration including hubs and will get a part list of the configured components.
