CU320 to CU320-2 issues - motor overheating

adamudt Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi all, Has anyone else had problems with motor overtemperature issues after changing the obselete CU320 v2.3 to a CU320-2 v4.6? The Control Unit runs 2 drives with 2 motors (6SL3120-ITE26-0AA3) and a 55kw line filter (6SL3130-7TE25-5AA3). I am seeing overtemps of 130C on only one motor. The same fault has occured on 2 seperate machines so it is not a mechanical issue. Is it possible a parameter has been changed during the upgrade process? Thanks in advance for any help, Adam

Never the less the recommended upgrade is up to the actual FW, which is 4.8. It is a significantly upgrade, then a motor identification at standstill is always good. Please check in your old parameterization the motor temperature evaluating. Compare it with the new evaluatings. These are the parameters >p600 ... 633, p344 Check the bico connection of the temp sensor, if available.

adamudt Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have upgraded the module to v4.8 but the problem still occurs. All the parameters in the P600 range look good. We are using a KTY84 connected via CU terminals. This is not a thermistor problem as the motor is very hot to touch. After the motor identification is complete the machine stalls and does not move. I then reverted to a backed up program. The motor is pulling ~50% more current compared to the machines with a CU320, but the parameters are the same or "Does not Exist". I have checked them many times. The same fault is occurring on 2 machines which are both running which rules out a mechanical issue. They are hitting overtemperature every 2 hours or so. The motor is a Siemens 1LA9133-4LA12-Z Motor data is the same as the nameplate. P304 230Vrms P305 38.9Arms P307 11KW P308 0.83 PF P310 50HZ P311 1450 rpm P640 113A Current limit With the CU320-2 the motor will pull ~100A on takeoff. It would only pull ~65A with the old CU320. I believe this is where the problem is, but cannot work out how to fix it. Thanks for any help in advance. Adam.

adamudt Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have found the cause of the overtemperature issue for anyone having similar issues. P1310 - Continuous voltage boost was changed to 100% from 175%. This has caused the temperatures to drop ~40°C. I now have 2 machines running flawlessly with a CU320-2 with P1310 at 100% I still have 10 machines running with the old CU320 with P1310 at 175%.
