Dear sir,

Those card here DI16,120/220v--321-1FH00-0AA0 and DI8,120V/220V--->321-1FF01-0AA0 LED was not gloving we measure the AC voltage their respected locations here we mearsured 220V AC, but LED was not glowing so, we opend the DI module internal PCB components was burned.in 3 no's DI cards (120V/220V). whay this type of problems are coming? we are taking maxmium protection at here TB (terminal Block) they given surge protection resistors (VR300), but it is not get damaged by the same PLC DI card damaged? why?

see the above attached images for more clear.kindly help me how to protect my PLC.

We have problem of DI16 channel 3no''s, not working, we open the DI card cover then find the PCB get burned internal resistors & capacitors. why? this problem according and how to protecting my PLC''s where we are using CPU 312-2DP it working good. help me & waiting for your reply. with regards rajesh.p

Ayman Elotaify Platinum Expert Joined: 5/28/2008 Last visit: 9/9/2024 Posts: 4515 Rating: (839)	Hello putta, It seems clearlyy that there is more than nominal voltage (120/230)VAC was applied to these channels. I do not know what kind of protection you did with this module. Please clarify. Also may be one of strong possibilities that in some cases Ground is linked to Neutral. And in case of phase to ground fault, there will be probability of failure for this module. Thus because in this you have for example digital inputs comming from Phase 1. If Phase to Ground fault happen with Phase 1, there will be no problem with module. If Phase to Ground fault happen with Phase 2 or 3, the applied voltage to the energized Digital input channels will be line to line voltage (380 VAC) which is higher enough to damage these channels. If this is your case, I recommend to use an isolating transformer to ensure that neutral of the module is different than neutral of your system or its ground. Hope this helps.

Iam talking about our safety protection as earlier qoute, we using one isolation transfermer and MCB protection at terminal end also MOV ( surge resistor coils).
