data logging on SD card - is it ok to store there data files as well

Does anybody know how that memory is managed ? I would imagine that it uses some circular log of segments and the oldest is ovewritten at some point. None of these settings are visible as they were in wincc 7.4 classic. There are issues with removing usb memory stick (improved greatly by the script available on the forum to force linux to close the file) and i would like to keep the copies on the files on the SD card. Could saving these files on the SD card be an issue while storing data logging there as well? I estimate these backup files to be less than 1mb per day? Is siemens SD card formated in some special way or just standard NTFS (what size of clusters?) and if i would like to reset whole memory i could format it while connected to the standard laptop? How can i prevent from running out of space on the SD card if i cannot manage the size of the datalogs and also backup files will be stored there? Is there a central sql lite instance in wincc unified or multiple ? eg.If data logs are reconfigured is it possible that a new sql lite instance will be created so in case of data recovery the old instance will have to be manually queried to extract the data? This applies to the total size and length as well as to the segments. There is no mechanism to prevent the SD card from filling up completely. So you should be careful how much space you use. So I would try to configure the maximum size for all logs in total to half of the card size if you want to backup to the same device. It does not make much sense to backup to the same device, but I am sure you are aware of that. No, the SD cards do not have a specific format (except for the system memory card, which is formatted by the panel). You should configure the size of your logs so that you do not run into a full SD card situation. Using bash scripting may allow you to read the free space, but it requires a bit more programming., No, the archive data is only stored in the configured location. There is only an internal buffer to store values until they are written to the database. Kind regards Stefan
