joebez Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi all, i have created a project for a small plant. now the client has come to me with a request to log 3 analog inputs within the cpu to be able to retrieve at a later time. I am using 315-2 pn/dp along with ktp1000 basic hmi all programmed with tia portal v12 pro. I have never done any data logging before and would appreciate some advice. Is it possible to data log with the the software and hardware i already have? Don't know as yet how he plans to retrieve the data as he has yet to confirm this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Gerdoo Posts: 23 Rating: (2)	Hi, KTP1000 is a basic panel and does not support data logging. You need a comfort panel and then you can log data on USB or SD card. Regards, Gerdoo

Gerdoo Posts: 23 Rating: (2)	Hi Joebez, For your information, Siemens has released the 2nd generation of Basic PAnel today in SPS IPC Fair Nuremberg. It comes with data logging feature. The Simatic HMI Basic Panels 2nd Generation come with a USB interface for a mouse, keyboard, barcode scanner or "USB stick for archiving purposes" http://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/human-machine-interface/en/operator-interfaces/basic-panel/basic-panel-2nd-generation/Pages/Default.aspx

This is not possible since datalogging and/or vb scripting is not available in basic panels. There are other options; like logging in the cpu. There are a lot of threads about this already, maybe a simple search in the forum can provide you an answer. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.... Kr, Jens
