hazem Bronze Member Joined: 2/15/2010 Last visit: 9/12/2021 Posts: 323 Rating: (6)	Dear, I have pc installed win 3.11 and communicated to step5 plc 928b and there is decoder as you see by attachment. i need to understand what the nature of this decoder is it programmable unit or solid electronics? and what is the purpose fot it ? it it contain secret code or what? your fast reply is highly appreciated. Regards, Hello hazem, I don't think that decoder dongle has something to do with step5. I think that decoder will contain license key of some kind of visualisation software running on the PC. If it is not installed on LPT1 (parallel printer port) the visualisation software might not work properly (either just in develloping mode or just in runtime mode) Kind regards BV

Regards, I don't know how the dongle exacty works. If it is needed to run Wonderware in runtime, i think you should buy one for each PC that runs a wonderware visualisation or communication will not be possible. If it is only needed for develloping a visualisation project, only one is needed on develloping PC. Maybe you can check in Wonderware manual how dongle works?

Exactly! And this one looks like a real Wonderware dongle. Is there some lebels on it? There are two types - Runtime and Developing license. If you need to prepare another computer to work there, after installtion of software you will need either to replace that dongle or to order a new one from Wonderware. Because I am currious- what version of Intouch do you have there (working under Windows 3.11)? Maybe 5.6? Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

hazem Bronze Member Joined: 2/15/2010 Last visit: 9/12/2021 Posts: 323 Rating: (6)	Dear, Be Vee I want to thank you about explain how Dongle is to be and approximately how it work really it was good information i already backed up all information of hard disk which contain w3.11 via NORTON GHOAST and run copies via removing and fixing dongle with all devices and you removed puzzle when i goasted the hard disk it works but shown key not ok so again thanks you again for your calrification and well done.
