Date & Time Discrepancy -> NO HMI Communication

Hi everyone

My configuration is :   

- CPU:  1510SP

- HMI:   MTP1000

If CPU and HMI have different Date or Time or Time Zone they Stop Profinet Communication.

I have to stop runtime, set right Date & Time on HMI, Start Runtime .

WHY??????????

I don't know if the loss of connection could be due to the time and date difference between CPU and HMI because you don't always want them to be synchronised. Check the rest of things but anyway I attach an example of an application to synchronise the date/time of the HMI and the CPU:

This is because of the Certificate downloaded in the cpu when using firmware 2.9 cpus.

A certificate has a valid begin and end time.

The panel will check with its internal clock if the certificate it receives from the cpu is within this time and if not, then it will not communicate with the cpu.

Therefore it is recommended to have an ntp server for all cpu and hmi's to make sure they have correct time.

Thanks for answer. I use CPU like server NTP and HMI as Client but sometimes the problem shows up.

I cant connect my network to internet because its a automotive machine.

what can i do?

Hi AndreaLari,

You will need to get the time from a time server on the network.

Because the hmi need a connection to the plc in order to synchronize time, then it cannot synchronize time if the time is wrong on the panel because it rejects the connection.

You will need to find out if a switch, NAS, pc or some other time server is available on the network.

From Tia i can export certificate, then?

Go to Properties of your CPU, then Certificate manager under Protection & Security. Here you delete you current certificate and create a new one with the desired initial and final dates.

Then in Connection mechanisms under Protection & Security, assign the new certificate. Once you do this, rebuild all and download to both PLC & HMI, you don't need to export the certificate.
