DB Addressing

dnh5306 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	hello my collegue ask a S7 question which i could not answer and woundering if anybody out there can help PROBLEM if you have an existing DB if significant length and you want to insert/delete new bit/byte/word etc can you stop all addresses in the program code not changing to new address after compiling programme. I usually break DB up into structure and leave spares, so i not really noticed the signiicancy of the problemuntilhe pointed it out. Answer seems to be only add on to DB at the end , do not insert. IF there is a way i would be interested to know thanks David

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/20/2025 Posts: 3031 Rating: (1058)	Hello dnh5306 S7 offers you 4 different ways to setthe so called "Address Priority" which accomodates pretty much every useful personal preference. To set/change this right click on the "Blocks" folder, select "Object Properties" and the go to the "Address Priority" tab. Make sure to read up on the different meanings and their ramifications (usethe "Help" button in the pop up window). I hope this helps

dnh5306 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	fritz spot on answer, did not think of that, even though i stumbled across the properties box before. but never given it a second thought about what it its for. wish we found it earlier as we had to go through all program correcting addresses. i think symbol representation should be default though thanks david
