DC motor reversing

VinValve Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I am new to LOGO. I am trying to program the12/24RC to be able to provide forward and reverse control of a 24vdc motor. Can this be done within within the program using 2 of the outputs.Or do I need to control an external relay. Thank you in advance for any help

playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	It can be done with 4 relay outputs or with 2 if you are using a48 v 3 wire power supply but the best method is using a externnal relay for direction

playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	As i said in my previous post it can be done but make sure you put a timer in so that when you reverse direction the relays have enough time to drop out or you will short out the relay contacts and possibly destroy your plc

VinValve Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Thanks Steve, I am doing the job nowwith an external 4 contact relay. I was just hoping to get it done within LOGO! so I could get rid of a component in my panel. I don't want to use all 4 of my outputs so I will stick with the relay. Thanks Again

VinValve Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I must have gone over my wiring design a thousand times before I figured out the timing thing. I kept getting a dead short each time the relays activated. I was confident that I had a good wiring scheme, I just could not understand what was causing the short. Out of desperation and nothing left to try,I put in a 1/2 second delay on each open and close input to the relay and verything worked fine. Its always fun to find out first hand howthing work. Thanks for the conformation that I actually needed the time delays. Thanks Again Butch
