Debug SCL code on a S7-1500 / 1200 - Breakpoint feature missing?

It would be really nice to have this breakpoint feature in 2017 - we believe in You Siemens :)

I hope by "we" you don't include me in that statement, because I certainly do not believe in them having been subject to their collective incompetence, false promises and illogical software far too many times in the past.

In my experience, there is always an easy way to debug without breakpoints. Despite I used them a lot on previous projects on Schneider PLCs, I accepted that the feature can not be used, changed my work habits, and finally I had no big difficulty to work without.

For debugging and qualifying a code block, I recommend to create a set of variable for debug purposes, and leave them in the program so you can use them anytime you need. This will help a bit.

 Hi RalphAI you are right! People lived without electricity, mobile phones cars etc.etc. Any halfway qualified engineer will come up with a good/not so good solution for debugging. The problem is - most of the debugging could end up in the production code because of deadline stress, and this is no webpage programming! Having countless features built into the IDE - most of them far from vital but no convenient debugger is ridiculous!

We'll have to wait for another year 

I had to debug some TIA SCL code which runs in a Classic S7-400 PLC....

Still no luck with TIA V14 , luckely i thoughed of the good old tool called Simatic Manager Step7 Classic which i could also use to debug the TIA code in STL  (without comments).

It took some time to figure out the translated SCL/STL but this way i was able to single step the code and find the bug.

May be some of you could use this method in case of S7-300/400

Any update of using breakpoint in TIA V16. It is really frustrating to see these basic features are not working in TIA.

Does anybody know any date?

did you try it? At least in V15 using a S7-1500 I can set breakpoints.
