Desalter Level Measurement

DavinderSingh Posts: 93 Rating: (2)	Dear All, I got a query from Refinery for Level Measurement in desalter application. Presently they are using Guided Wave Radar from Emerson but not working properly. I was checking whether we can use LG200 or LC500 but not able to decide. Please give me some feedback, advantanges / disadvantages in order to put some suggestions to customer. Regards, Davinder Singh

DavieS Posts: 64 Rating: (2)	If you have an emulsion layer than capacitance may work better than TDR. Guided wave looks for a defined interface and capacitance will average where the interface is based on dielectric constant, however if your feedstock dielectric changes more errors will be introduced. Ultimately a nuclear scanner will perform the best with a large rag layer.
