I am trying to understand how communication diagnostics works with S7-1500. Lets take following scenario with next devices:

PLC1 (master), HMI, PLC2 (slave), Distributed IO station1 (IO1), Distributed IO station2 (IO2).

Devices connected through profinet: PLC1, PLC2, HMI and IO1.

Devices connected through profibus: PLC2 and IO2

Each PLC contains at least one signal module (SM) in its station.

Goal is to specify action in user code what to do on specific equipment failure:

1) IO port failed

2) SM failed

3) IO station failed

4) a connection between two PLCs or HMI failed

Hi Murof,

thanks for the response. I have already read that topic, and if I understood correctly, this is more of a automated out of the box approach. I don't see a way to respond to failures conditonaly, based on the type of failure, which I talked about in my question.

Am I overseeing something?
