Hello ROCLIM the Diagnostic address has a number of purposes which- as the name suggests - relate all to the exchange of diagnostic information. Think of this address as an I/O address for a "virtual" Slot, instead of theI/O addresses for the physically plugged I/O modules. You'll need to use the Diagnostic address for example when you use SFC 13DPNRM_DG (i.e. to read out thethediagnostic information from the DP slave). Afailure (or return) of a DP slave is also reported to the master via this diagnostic address(you'll then see the ET200M's Diagnostic address in the OB86 related entry of CPU's diagnostic buffer). So while you can get by without even being aware of this Diagnostic address, it certainly doesn't hurt to know a bit more about it and I hope this helps. |
