Hello m.shoaib khatana; Interface Modules 369/361 are remains of older generation remote I/O, for the S5 generation of PLCs for example. In those days, before Profibus-DP had become so available, the only way to extend the central rack of the PLC to add new IO modules once you reached the full capacity of the rack was to use Interface module pairs (for the S5 racks, IM304/IM314, IM 308/IM 318...). Each pair of IMs supported different racks and different communication lengths. To extend the S7-300 racks you have 2 choices: IM 365 or IM360/361. They are both described in this manual, in chapter 8: SIMATIC S7-300 S7-300 Automation System Module Data Connecting cable for IM 360 and IM 361, or IM 361 and IM 361 · 1 m 6ES7368-3BB01-0AA0 · 2.5 m 6ES7368-3BC51-0AA0 · 5 m 6ES7368-3BF01-0AA0 · 10 m 6ES7368-3CB01-0AA0 As you can see the maximum distance you can have between the IM360 (in the main rack) and the last rack with a IM361(there are 3 possible) is 40 m. Since Profibus-DP is now very accessible and easy to configure, most remote I/O racks (for S7 PLCs) are now installed on Profibus. ET 200M (IM153-x + S7-300 Modules), ET 200S (IM151-x + ET 200s modules) are the most popular remote IO stations in Siemens' world, but many manufacturers offer their own variety, such as Beckhoff, Wago, and many others. You can have up to 123 remote IO stations on Profibus-DP and you can extend them over a much larger distance from the central rack (depending on the medium, use of repeaters and transmission speed). |
