Hi Does anyone know what the difference between Dry and Wet contactsfora DigitalOutputis? Do they have the same meaning with Switch and Delay? |

Hello, Dry contact is voltage free contact. You can get it from a relay output module or via an external relay. Wet contact: I have never hear this. But if you mean non-dry contact, then you should know the control voltage of it. Hope this helps.

hi, dry means normal contact (shorting link)For Di and wet contact means providing or passing some volt/current to DI regards, viral |

Hi Ariya Man, In addition to previous posts, Wikipedia states the following about wet contact: Wet contacts aremercury wetted, which gives certain operational advantages. Dry contacts means a relay that does not use mercury wetted contacts. Kind regards, BV |

Ok, so what is the difference between an DO module with relay output and switching output? |

Hello, what do you mean by switching output? All digital outputs are switching. Relais outputs have contacts like a switch, you have to provide a supply to one of the contacts, othe one provides then your supply when activated. Transistor outputs provide + 24V when activated . I suggest you have a look at S7-300 Module Data to read more about dif output modules. Regards, Marcjan |

this is what i read in a book recetly. it has divided DO modules with two different outputs, relay and switched.... and im wondering why? |

Hello, Well i suppose that by switching outputs the mean the Transistor outputs. These outputs provide a voltage at the outputs. Regards, Marcjan |

in very simple terms: If the field device itself is capable of providing the contact voltage reqired to detect an input then the contact on the module end is called the dry contact. Alternately, if we provide the contact supply to the field and the device in the field is a passive device then it is called the Wet Contact. |

in additional: DO module with relay output make full break or full contact. But DO module with switching output retain the remainder of resistance. With relay output modules have a limited number of switches. |
