Difference between Profibus Connectors

Georgii Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hello everybody, I have a doubt. I was looking for PROFIBUS connectors and realize that was a lot of MLFB's but I didn't see too much difference between them. I need to use a connector in a CP443-5 and others two in two Computers. I've got those MLFB's: 6ES7 972-0BA41-0XA0 6ES7 972-0BA12-0XA0 6GK1500-0EA02 6ES7972-0BB12-0XA0 They have any particularity? Can I use them without preocupation? Or I need to use a specified connectorto computer and other to CP443? There are some differences of 45degrees and 90degrees, this I understood... One model (6ES7 972-0BA30-0XA02) can not be used at end of the network. Else it, there are just mechanical differences. Take a look at the catalog IK PI (www.siemens.com/simatic/printmaterial).

After reading this catalog, I decided to use this connector: RS 485 bus connector with angled cable outlet Max. transmission rate 12 Mbit/s • Without PG interface 6ES7 972-0BA41-0XA0 • With PG interface 6ES7 972-0BB41-0XA0 Another and supose the main question that I have at the moment is: What is the difference between 0BA41 and 0BB41. The one with PG interface is another bus in the back to plug another connector without disconnecting the first one? Or what is this interface? Thanks again

JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	Yes, the one with PG interface (*0BB41) has a connector on the front side of the connector which is a DB9F connector. This is can be used toplug-in your programming deviceorother devices such as profibus analyzer on to the bus without disturbing the bus connection. Please note that the cable you plug-in here can not be very long(2m if I am not mistaken) and can not be used at 12M baud rate. I normally use this connectors on the CPU end always as it is useful to run diagnostics on bus and program devices. If you have a very long network then sometimes it is use ful to out them in different location so that you can access devices from where you are without walking all the way back to main PLC panel
