Hello cantong; What platform are you using, S7-300, S7-1200, S7-200... for the Modbus master? What interface: for the S7-300 it could be a CP 341, a 1SI module; for the s7-200 you would require a Modbus library. What physical layer, RS-232, RS-485, possibly Ethernet (Modbus TCP). What slave exactly are you connecting to, and do you have a manual with its Modbus mapping (location and number of rehgisters you want your Modbus master to read or write to)? Until you have determined these selections, it is very hard to give you the requested reply. I would suggest you start by reading this well-crafted presentation of modbus, by our friend smiffy: Modbus General Description It will help you understand what is required for a general data exchange over Modbus, and what isneeded to create this communication link on a Siemens PLC. Once you have a grasp of the basics, you can use the Search box at the right of this page to look for "Sample Modbus programs" for your master's platform. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
