SIMATIC WinCC (TIA Portal) - PC-based Runtime Systems (about WinCC Runtimes, click the tabs) Options for SIMATIC WinCC (TIA Portal) (abut the available options) It's too much to write down, but basically it depends on your runtime station. For example: If you use a basic panel, you can't use scripts or faceplates or styles and so on. If you use a comfort panel, you can't use C-Scripts, but VBS-Scripts. If you use the PC and want a SCADA system you'd use Professional, if you have a single operator PC you can use Advanced or Professional. What you can do depends on the devices, not so much on the software. Each level includes the former ones, so if you have WinCC Advanced, you can create projects for comfort panels, basic panels and PC runtime. If you use Professional you can do the same, but have the SCADA functionality added on top. What you should avoid is creating an Advanced Project and try to copy paste it into a Professional project and vice versa: WinCC Professional is designed to work an PCs, so typically with a Mouse and Keyboard, WinCC Advanced, Comfort and Basic are designed to work on operator panels and in closer proximity to machines

It lacks the features expected by a professional . For eg: 1. No pupups available. 2. No scripts on events . 3. No PLC changer. To acheive redundancy yo would need Siemens CPs and REDCOnnect. 4. And many other. 5. Many add-ons which are standard features in other HMI packages. 6. Poorly written "HELP:" lines . I suggest user should evaluate a trial version before making selection. Siemens has good product but good things are not in standard packages . Good luck.

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 12/11/2024 Posts: 14378 Rating: (1798)	Hello As I know in WInCC SCADA (WinCC Professional RT in TIA Portal ) there is no limitation for OPC Connections. It´s only limited by Computer Perfoermance because the Communication takes place via the standard Ethernet port of the computer or corresponding Siemens communications processors. The maximum possible number of connections is limited by the available system resources and their performance data, particularly CPU, RAM, Ethernet connection. Bye Murof
