different clients from one server

alfie Posts: 78 Rating: (3)	hi there,[:cry:] I'm using 1cpu(414-2) and 2servers(server2 is redundant of server1) and 6 clients. all the 6 clients are running the same project via a server, but we have 2different units in this project.(unit 1 & unit 2).I want that, clinets1-3 show data from unit1 & clients 4-6 show data from unit2. the pictures are the same, but the tags are different. In a word, how can i assign different pictures from one server to different clients?[:(] and also I've used all 16 pages (picture hierarchy) for unit 1. hope u completely understand what my problem is! thanx before ;)

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	The easiest way would be to assign different start pictures on clients 1-3 and clients 4-6. You assign the start picture in the computer properties. You would need to create two different start pictures. One with menu buttons to show pictures for unit 1, and a second that has menu buttons to show pictures relating to unit 2. I always do screen navigation scripting manually so this is very easy and simple to set up.

Hi Salma, thanx for ur reply, for this problem, i changed the visibility of area in OS project Editor and it works. actually, i inserted 32 containers in picture tree manager and in clients, set the visibility of only 16 areas. but my new question is :how can i do it for the server?? i want to put 2 buttons (Unit1 and Unit2) that user can select it. u said that:"I always do screen navigation scripting manually so this is very easy and simple to set", how u do it??

Instead I manually create buttons and event scripts to load pictures into a PictureWindow. You can write the script using C or VBS, I think the OS Project Editor automatically creates the scripts in C. So you could look at the buttons you have and try manually adding / changing the code. However there might be an easier way to do this using the OS Project Editor. Does anyone know ??

However you can order a demo cd from your local Siemens supplier. It contains a demo project that shows all the different ways to do things in WinCC. Or can anyone else put together a quick example project ??

Hi salma, after u posted this thread :"Everyone should read this ..." i'm afraid of asking question [:blush:][;)] anyway, we are appreciate u for answering the question [:)], thanx a lot I was trying to do it as u said, but i can't completely understand the c code that generates by OS-ProjectEditor, is there any reference for c-scripts that OS-PE generates?? or can u tell me more how can i do it manually?? i didn't find anything [:cry:]

I just also want everyone to contribute to the answers [8)] Like I said I don't use the OS Project Editor, PCS7 or BPC so cannot help much with the scripts. Instead I can show you how to do it manually in WinCC. First thing to know is there is a wizard that writes thenavigation script for you. It's found under View -> Toolbars ->Dynamic Wizard -> Picture Functions tab -> "Picture Change in the Window". Once you have the basic script you can then modify it if necessary. I have put together some example screens. Just copy them into your GraCS folder, open the OVERVIEW.PDL picture and put it into Runtime. Any questions, just ask - I promise I don't bite [:)] BTW, I apologise in advance for the colour scheme used. I am completely useless at making pretty pictures / sexy graphics !!
