Hello Thavas; The main reason for setting parameters in the Profibus profile dialog is to give the Profibus configurator enough information to calculate the T_Bit value that will allow your particular network to operate at optimum speed and reliability. One of the information the configurator needs is what protocols you will be using on your Profibus network: DP, FMS, PG routing, S7 functions.... The different profiles tell the configurator the limits (in bus speed, number of nodes, number of possible masters...) that the bus will operate in. By selecting a profile, you allow the configurator to adapt to your network needs.
