fanana Silver Member Joined: 5/13/2012 Last visit: 9/14/2024 Posts: 179 Rating: (1)	dear sir. i would to ask about something i need to connect the 7 devices siprotec 5 to DSC modbus TCP/IP,and send data with adress is it possible to use IEC 103 from siprotec devices then connect them to SICAM TM 1703 and the output from it modbus RTU then convert this to Modbus TCP/IP by ruggedcom RMV30. please as soon as posssible

rchie Posts: 36 Rating: (2)	Hi! That setup should work. But for ruggedcom you might be referring to RMC30? Another thing check with yourSicam supplier. There is already released firmware for modbus TCP/IP slave for Sicam AK/TM, this means you do not need RMC30. You need to check the interoperability list for modbus protocol. Regards.

rchie Posts: 36 Rating: (2)	hello! 1703 family now supports modbus tcp/ip slave as i've mentioned. you need to install sm-2556 with modi00 firmware. this is why i told to check with your sicam supplier. we are using the same for one project. regards.

fanana Silver Member Joined: 5/13/2012 Last visit: 9/14/2024 Posts: 179 Rating: (1)	dear friends I would like to ask about something ,because i adon't want to use SICAM TM bec i don't have experience on it. 1-is it possible to take the output from those siprotec devices using modbus RTU slaveafter collecting by( cm0829or starcoupler)i don't which is suitabl. then use RMC30 converter modbus RTU to modbus TCP/IP. 2-the clientask the address of eachsignal that i should mapping to this DCS ,i don't know is it possible to mapping monitoring information and command using modbus RTU or not? if it is not possible my idea,rachi can you help me. i should recieve the equipment and start commisstioning but i don't know how?

rchie Posts: 36 Rating: (2)	Hi Fanana, I do not know if siprotec can support modbus rtu. But modbus is really not a good option since it doesn't support timestamp and there will be a huge delay incase you connect all your relays in the same bus. Signals will be only timestamp once it is received from the scada. The better solution will be using TM1703 to convert you IEC protocolto modbus.Relay protocol can either be IEC61850 or IEC103. Mike J Platinum Expert Joined: 10/9/2007 Last visit: 3/17/2025 Posts: 1259 Rating: (116)	Hi again Modbus protocol doesn't support time stamp, but it is possible to have them using normal telegrams containing the time stamp, just like in Profibus DP v0. You will find more information in siprotec.com I agree that IEC103 and 61850 are much better. Besides, you have fault records and time synchronization (time synch is also "possible" with modbus). If you don't have experience with TM, you can use Sicam PAS. By the way, 1703 family supports Modbus TCP only as server (slave). Mike

Hello You can consider using SIPLUS_RIC With IEC-103 and use a S7 OPEN MODBUS TCP/IP library running in one S7 CPU ( I feel even IM151-8 might be sufficient for your application. ) Of course you need to be familiar with S7 programming if you wish to use SIPLUS RIC libraries. We have had good experience with SIPLUS RIC Libraries as well as MODBUS TCP/IP Libraries. Though we have never used both together in one CPU. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag

fanana Silver Member Joined: 5/13/2012 Last visit: 9/14/2024 Posts: 179 Rating: (1)	Dear experts finally the package arrived(equipments) and the following items found 1-8 devices siprotec 5 dual channel to use IEC 103 (we need to use full redundancy) 2-TM 1703 ACP module -ACP 1703 CP-6014 6MF1113-0GA-0AA0 -4 patch plug -two serial interface SM-2551 serial interface (so i can't use modbus tcp dirct from TM 1703) 6MF1013-OCF51-0AA0 -flash card -two cmo829 (i don't know what isthe function of this deive )i thing it come by wrong becasue we should connect the siprotec RS 485 direct to the TM 1703 without any converter ?is it ok or not -one bus terminator connector 7xV5103-5BA00 ----so my question is as i mentioned before i need to connect those devices to the dcs using modbus TCP/IP i am confused right now and i need to install those equipment and start test ?? could you please give me the direction to how to sucess to establish the communication with this equipment or should i buy extra equipment?
