disappearing ctrl+z

Vippi Experienced Member Joined: 9/24/2008 Last visit: 10/7/2024 Posts: 106 Rating: (4)	I really wonder why while I'm working with Tia Portal the Ctrl+z (UNDO) command unpredictabily stops working, it has no more effect and the voice in menu Edit-Undo is grey. My Tia Portal is V11 SP2 Upd4 and I'm working in a XP VMWare virtual machine on Win7, I7 processor 8 Gb ram. It is really boring and affecting my work moreover because I'm working on a laptop and touch area is even too much sensitive.. I often happen to drag and drop something somewhere without intention..

But also when I simply download a part of PLC project, I can use no more undo command on WinCC side too: often it doesn't recover if I go offline butI need to close and restart the portal.

RPM Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	I guess it is impossible to use Undo function after compiling the project or part of the project. Unfortunatelly my TIA portal is waiting for Siemens support so i cant test it. Yes. I checked it on other pc. You are unable to use undo if you compile your project. When downloading to PLC/HMI project autocompiles so you know the answer now.

I believe undo is very similar to 10 year ago office products where undo was only up to the save. I guess the undo is not unlimited so saving would naturally reset as you can not go beyond your last save. As for being online and making changes, it is often faster to copy the existing network to a new one, change that one, temp disable the original one with an always off NO contact, and test the changes. This is somewhat similar to how AB does it automatically, allowing you to test your changes, accept and remove original, or reject and revert to original. I hope they do get undo working while online though as I agree there are times it would be more efficient to undo the changes.
