Is it possible to display the diagnostics buffer on the HMI in the follow system.

- CPU 315-2 DP programmed with Step 7 V5.6 connected via profbus to HMI KTP700 programmed with TIA portal V15.1?

I have found the Diagnostics buffer icon and added it to a screen but when i download it to the HMI there isn't information shown? in the manual it says to activate diagnostics in the CPU but it only refers to having both the CPU and HMI in a TIA project, i cannot see the same options in Step 7 V5.6 'classic'?

Hello.

I am not sure which PLCs can be linked to by the diagnostic view. The fact that the PLC is not part of the HMI project is not an issue.

Opening the diagnostic view will present the user with choices of the devices configured to the HMI. The user can then select the connection that contains the device that needs to be read from. No design time configuration is required for this.

My experience with this is on a KTP700 that links to multiple S7-1200s. It is possible to select the S7-1200 which needs to be displayed.

A quick search does not have any results on which devices can be viewed with this tool.

 Ok thanks, when i run the HMI the diagnostics view doesn't display anything at all at the minute, i will go through the motions and try some more settings

As far as I know,

 KTP 700 will read PLC diagnostic messages when there is an Integrated  connection with the PLC.

I think in your case,
You have a PLC in the Simatic Manager and HMI in TIA. You would have created a Non integrated  Connection. So HMI will not read PLC Diagnostics messages.

Solution:
1. You have to bring PLC enviroment to TIA and establish Integrated Connection with HMI
2. Using Simatic manager, create a proxy file of PLC project .
3. In tia add a proxy plc-> import the above proxy file (PLC configuration is ready)
4. Establish a integrated Connection to the PLC in TIA.

this might be confusing, because you cannot create a proxy file. Just compile the project in Step7 classic and save it. Then you can add it as proxy device to the TIA project.
