Helloaasim, I agree withMadhavaas this is a bit generic question. However and since you are asking in Siemens forum, I'll assume 2 major possibilities, 1- Having copper RS485 network (Maybe MPI or Profibus) then the maximum length would depend on the cable and baud rate. Please check pages (42-46) in theProfibus network manual. For a 20 meters, it should be OK for all baud rates (i.e. up to 12 Mbps). 2- Having copper Industrial Ethernet network then the maximum distance would depend on your cable type. Most of cables will support longer than 75 meters. More info can be read in Industrial Ethernet Industrial Ethernet / PROFINET Industrial Ethernet System Manual Once again, you will get more accurate answer when you provide more details. this is a reported problem, which you mal look into SCADA PC to PLC communication By using Ethernet cable CAT-6For the recommended distances, see the attached file which is an extract from siemens manual
