Hi Everyone,

I have few site with S7-1200 connected to WInCC V7.0 via DNP3 connection. I'm trying to troubleshooting DNP3 connection down. When I wiresharking connection, I can see there is some comm between master and slave but on info tab it showing "Delay Measurement". What does it mean? 

BTW, I can ping all sites from WInCC and they are connected by L2TP VPN.

Update:

I'm using DNP3 Outstation Simulator from FreyrSCADA instead S71200. DNP3 connection worked properly. So, now Im sure that is is S71200 configuration error not network error. Im attaching DNP3 protocol trace from TIA.

Can you give us a little bit more information.

Which communication channel do you use in the WinCC Project?

Which parameters do you use?

It would make sense if you upgrade your WinCC to at least V7.2 or newer. Then the WinCC has an own communication channel for S71200 and then its very easy and stable to communicate.

There is telecontrol driver that enable DNP3 connection. I think what you means what communication channel that I used is this telecontrol driver.

WinCC is not my project. It is old SCADA that monitor water supply system for entire state. There is already 100+ devices connected to WinCC via DNP3. So, asking them to upgrade for my site is way beyond my power.

Update: I managed to solved the problem with help from Siemen representative.

1. Use Wireshark to capture at WinCC, there is TCP Handshake between Master-Slave. DNP3 show delay measurement function code

2. Use Wireshark to capture at S71200, there is TCP Handshake between Master-Slave. DNP3 request VPN peer IP Address instead of  Master IP Address.

3. Change partner IP Address to VPN peer IP address. Problem solved.
