Regards, JD Hi, if the S7 200 is used as DP Slave (CPU or CP242-8) and the S7 300 as DP-Master a direct connection is possible. DP-DP coupler is only required if both station are ONLY DP-Master, because a Master - Master connection via PROFIBUS DP isn't possible.

Regards, JD Hello JD, as Rated X told you required the DP/DP Coupler for only Master Master Communication. But you can used MPI port without adding any Extra Hardware, have a look on this FAQ How does data communication work between S7-300/S7- 400 and S7-200 via MPI using S7 basic communication?
