Do not have a License

IwanvH Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Goodmorning, I have a pc with Simatic Net Ind. Ethernet Softnet PN IO Edition 2008 (V7.1). In the ALM i can see that the license-key is on the hard-disk with the status Ok. When a look in the installes software the software Simatic Net PC Software SNMP-OPC-Server Basic V7.1 is installed. But i got the message that the license is not found. Can somebody help me? Thanks. Iwan

This is a license to use your PC as a Profinet IO Controller to get the data from PN IO Devices connect to a regular Ethernet interface. If this is what you want you have the correct license installed. But since there is a message7popup saying that you miss the SNMP OPC Server Basic license it seems that you use (or also use) the SNMP OPC Server functionality of the SIMATIC NET software to get SNMP Infromation from device in your nework. You have less then 20 devices you request data from. if this is the case you also need this license. The SIMATIC NET CD contains several solutions to present the data in the OPC Server. For example a S7-Connections (Lean, Standard or S7-1613, PN CBA, Profibus (DP-Slave, DP-Master S7-Profibus, etc.). You need a license for every type you have in use on the particular PC.

IwanvH Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	That's correct. I have a CPU-400 with a CP443 for the communication with a regular ethernet card in the pc. So the license is correct, but why comes the pop-up with the message that de license is not found. So a need also a nother license? Thank, Iwan

Using an S7-Connections means you need SIMATIC NET SOFTNET for Industrial Ethernet Lean (8 connections), SIMATIC NET SOFTNET for Industrial Ethernet (up to 64 connections) or S7-1613 (up to 120 connections with a S7-1613). The SOFTNET PN IO License is for an other case as I described in my previous post. One odf these order numbers should solve your issue: SOFTNET for IE Lean v7.1/v2008: 6GK1 704-1LW71-3AA0 SOFTNET for IE v7.1/v2008: 6GK1 704-1CW71-3AA0

I want to use a S7-400 with a opc server and in the field a have serveral remote i/o with a im151 on profinet. Best regards, Iwan

With the License you have you can communicate directly with the IM151-3PN devices but not with a controller like a S7-400. This would mean you need to create an OPC Client yourself to control the processes now done with the S7-400. There is some more information available via this link: Information about SOFTNET PN IO But for your system setup SIMATIC NET Softnet for Industrial Ethernet (Lean if less then 8 connections) is the better solution. With this license you are able to setup a S7-Connection to your S7-400 and get all the data from the S7-400.
