do you think that I will need a sensor for detect the position of the holder of the oven?

And the axis moved for M3 motor sends 1 sheet for each revolution. In this case, do you think that I will need a sensor for detect the position of the holder of the oven? or it is not necessary and only I need to install absolute encoders in the axises moved for M2 and M3? In the simotion program, What do I need to use? (virtual axis, cams, measuring inputs, external encoder) Thanks for your help again. The need for absolute encoders and external sensors depends on functionality and level of automation you are trying to achieve. Ask yourself the following questions: Q1 How does the relationship between both conveyors will be established initially? - Mechanically during installation of the machine Then external sensors are not needed. Absolute encoders will be used. - The operator will advance or retard into position. External sensors are not needed. Absolute vs incremental will be determined by the following question. - The machine will do it automatically without any input from the operator. External sensors are needed to establish reference positions. Absolute vs incremental will be determined by the next question. Q2. Is it ok to perform referencing procedure at every power up or is it desired for the machine to remember it's position through a power cycle for faster automated restart? - It is ok to do referencing procedure every power cycle Incremental encoders can be used - It is desirable for the machine to remember its position during power off Absolute encoders must be used In Simotion: Motor 2 axis can be a master axis: Position Axis Technology Object Motor 3, according to the drawing can be either a speed axis or a gearing axis: see my comments on that above. Motor 1: gearing axis (Unless the transfer will follow some sort of cam profile, which does not appear to be the case here) If sensors are used then Measuring Input technology objects will be utilized to detect reference positions.
