Raffy Posts: 209 Rating: (2)	Hi Guys, What is the best thing to do if I would like to document my program and make as simple as possible so that even non-programmers can interpret the flow of my program?? Is there a software in Siemens that would do the documentation?? I am planning to convert my Ladder diagrams to flow charts so that they could understand the program and even the STL and SCL to a flowchart.. But is there a better way of the documenting this program..?? Please help Thanks Raffy

As far as I know, Siemens do not offer the option to generate flow charts) Moreover, personally I use flow charts before I write the code So, all I can suggest is just print-out the program as already mentioned here or draw the flowcharts by hands.

But for the program itself I canadvice: -comment every network; -commentas muchinput/outputs-markers-timers-counters... as needed; -use understandable tagnames; -devide your program into sections byusing functions and function blocks; -build up your program structured; -add groups to gather program blocks that belong together; -when defining functionnames/blocknames/tagnames/datablocknames,... use a prefix that indicates the function of that item. For example all analog inputs with the prefix AI_, digital inputs DI_, functions FC_, followed by the (tag)name.Example: AI_PressureTransmitter_PT364. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Jens

In the PLC side for better understanding for no programmers you need to assign Symbol tags for all the I/O's clearly and seggregate the programming according to the various instruments in seperate FC's. And even use the comments to describe you logics then and there. this way it will be helpfull to others. my opinion

Don't use markers without symbolic names. use structured programming method in order to make programming is simple and to save time during programming phase. It will help alot during commissioning. Another way but it is not commonly used is to useS7-Graph. Hope this helps.
