Hi. I have a short question. At the webpage: http://tinyurl.com/2wg2vt8 there is info that S7-300/400 supports fetch/write technology. Actually it says: Fetch/Write is a service which is used to read data from a server station or to write data to it. Access takes place via the operating system for the passive server station without any further function calls within the server station. In SIMATIC S7, the fetch/write service is only implemented in server functionality. Therefore, the SIMATIC S7 is unable to actively read or write data. Clients are able to actively read/write data to or from the S7. However, I can not find any information if S7-1200 does support communication using fetch/write protocol. Can anybody confirm that or give any official link which solve my issue? Regards, Lukas |

Hi. I am not sure if we are talking about the same. Actually I am talking about "FETCH/WRITE service in an S7-300/400". I am wondering if such service is also available for S7-1200. For example, under this url: http://tinyurl.com/2ulpe4o is picture that shows that S7-300 acts as "Fetch/Write server". The question is: can I run "Fetch/Write service" under S7-1200, so it acts like "Fetch/Writer server" ? Regards, Lukas |

Hello Lucas, I think Pegaia already answered you. And to clarify situation - more information about the Fetch and Write services is available in the "NCM S7 for Industrial Ethernet" manual, section 4.8 "FETCH WRITE Mode" in Entry ID: 1172423. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev |

Hello mhzmark I very much doubt that Fetch/Write Services are supported by an S7-1200 (but would like to stand corrected on this one). As far as I'm concerned Fetch/Write Services have left the town on the same train that the S5 PLC's took. While they are still supported on S7 300's and 400's (for upgrade and backward compatibility purposes), I'd be very suprised if theS7-1200 does (or will in the future) support them. Since I can only give you "99% sure" answer though, I suggest you launch a Support Request directly with Siemens(see right hand side of the forum under "Contact") and keep us posted about the answer. I hope this helps P.S.: Why (or what for) do you need Fetch/Write Servicesin a 1200? (and why aren't you more concerned about the lack of STL as a programming language in it instead of missing Fetch/Write Services?) |
