I want to Connect a PC  to an S7-1200 using OPC-UA,

I am using TIA-Portal v15.1 ,and simatic net v15

 first, I want to know if I am using the correct description application?

does simatic net v15 that i´am using  support OPC UA or just OPC DA ?

3- Procedure for S7-1200 V4 and Higher

This chapter shows:

x The configuration of a SIMATIC S7-1200 and a PC station in the TIA Portal

x The configuration of an S7 connection for data exchange between the SIMATIC S7-1200 and the PC station

x S7 access to optimized data blocks

With firmware V4.0 and higher the S7-1200 CPU supports S7 connections with access to optimized data blocks.

The OPC Server V12 and higher supports communication to an S7-1200 only via OPC UA (OPC Unified Architecture). Here you can use optimized data blocks or standard data blocks. Access to optimized data blocks is preset in the TIA Portal.

You need an OPC Client which supports OPC UA in order to access optimized data blocks via OPC UA and for using the OPC Server V12 or higher.

This entry shows how to configure an S7 connection between the S7-1200 V4 and the PC station in order to be able to use an OPC client which supports OPC UA.

if I understand correctly, in this case OPC-UA Server is Simatic Net installed in PC1 (where TIA-Portal and the hardware configuration is done ) , and the OPC-UA client is the Simatic-Net installed in the PC-station.

No its not completely correct.

The OPC Server always communicates on the one side with  the PLCs an on the other side with OPC Clients.

So in this case the S71200 PLC has no own OPC UA Server on board like the S71500.

So you need an OPC Server that has the function to communicate to the PLC with S7 Protocol.

On the other side the OPC Server let you get access to the PLC Items if you connect with a OPC Client.

(the Simatic NEt OPC Server supports OPC UA  since V12)

In your case:

S71200 <-(s7Protocol) -> Simatic Net OPC UA Server <- (OPCUA) -> some OPC UA Client

for testing you can use the Simatic Net OPC Scout or UA expert as Test Clients.

Which OPC Server SW?

This is what I have explained, you need an OPC UA Server that can connet to the S71200 PLC. Then you can use any OPC UA Client (what you want....) from any brand.
