Downgrade frimwhare - Step by step

Ulrik.V Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys I understand is possible to "downgrade" the firmware of a CPU I have a new CPU 315-2-PN/DP with a firmware V3.2.3 My version of Simatic S7 V5.4 only allows V3.1 as the newest version, also after updating hardware. I have heard the is a way to download the "old" program in the "new" processor. I do not need any of the new functions. Alternativly i have to buy V5.5 upgrade, but it has not been calculate in this small project, and i would like to wait a bit. Please provide me with a stepBystep buide - i dont know where to find the function.

Hello Ulrik,

So to use the newer firmware CPU with all functionalities is clear there is needing a Step7 5.5. But youcan configure the module in STEP 7 5.4 as predecessor (FW V3.1) with the latter's scope of functions and to use it.

In Hardware Config	Actual hardware on hand
6ES7315-2EH14-0AB0 V3.1	6ES7315-2EH14-0AB0 V3.2

Options like downgrade the firmware (described in http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/40360647) I would not suggest you. And the reason for that is too expensive way without to win anything.

p.g. Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Yes, I have used the CPU 315-2-PN/DP with a firmware V3.2.3 with S7 V5.4 (that only allows V3.1) without problem (without downgrade the CPU firmware or upgrade step7)
