"Download canceled due to a transfer error: 8020AB001992FFF4!" when trying to download to TP900 Comfort

Hi all,

I've read and followed steps from the existing posts on error code "8020AB001A06FFF4". I think I successfully installed the right image panels and I was able to update the firmware of my panel correctly. Connecting to the panel seems to be working fine. I can't seem to find any info about this error code.

Downloading code to my PLC, establishing connection with my Drives and simulating PLC-code + visualization in WinCC all works fine.

If anyone knows what this error could mean, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

What version of tia portal do you use?

TIA Version: v17

Image version: 16.0.0.0 (I think this is what you mean?) I added a screenshot of the directory + installed image files in appendix. The first problem I had was that these included files were missing, TIA would give me error that "xxx".fwf was missing. I downloaded and installed these files from Siemens website and then I was able to successfully update the firmware of my panel.

I have not installed anything from DVD3 I believe, If given more specific information about it, I can start by installing this.

I believe the panel I have uses v16 because this is indicated on the back of the panel.

It's clear by now that there must be some data missing on my panel (in other words the firmware installed on my panel isn't fully aligned).

Hopefully someone might figure out what data is missing or whether the version is wrong. Thanks in advance.

Download and install the panel images based on the version you have installed:

Scroll down to "V17 recommended for update" or "V17 backup only (all following)", and choose V17 and update that you have installed.

Also, watch that there is a category for Unified Panels and Comfort Panels.  Download the correct one!

I have installed DVD3 and updated it with upd6.exe

Something still not clear for me: Do I need to pick a V17.0.0.0 version when I configure my new panel in TIA portal (regardless of the FW version noted on the back of my panel)? Or was picking V16.0.0.0 correct?

TIA version i'm using is V17 but panel firmware is V16

First of all I would like to thank the responses on my post. I had originally downloaded the specific .fwf image file for V17 and updated the firmware correctly. So that I did right.

Now for the people who end up receiving same error code as me:

I wasn't able to select a v17.0.0.0 panel when creating my new HMI-device in TIA. So I had to put the V17 .fwf files under data>hmi>transfer>v16 so that I could do the firmware update. Once updated you have to add a new HMI-device with version 17.0.0.0 in order to do a successful download.

Something I originally tried avoiding to do because I had already quite some screens configured in the HMI-project. Without being able to change the version in TIA I will have to copy everything over, which won't take too long tho.

So i'm guessing the error code indicates that you are trying to download from a version X TIA portal HMI to a version Y physical panel. In my case from a v16 created TIA portal HMI to a panel of firmware version 17.
