I have a Simatic basic panel KTP600 DP, and an S7 1200 processor with CM1243-5 Profibus master module.

Would it be possible to connect a PC running TIA portal to the S7 1200 processor using a Profinet network, and transfer the HMI project to the basic panel?  i.e. without connecting the PC to the Profibus port of the HMI, effectively using the 1200 to bridge across the networks.

I assume I would first have to configure the Profibus DP settings of the basic panel using the touch screen, and configure the Profibus DP settings of the CM1243-5 master module in TIA to be compatible.

Is the above possible?

no this is not possible because the basic Panels don't support the S7-Routing.

Basic Panels do not support this procedure, because they cannot be configured as S7 Routing targets.
