Hi,

I also got similar problem and the third party programmer downloaded to the HMI without enabling the backtransfer check box while downloading.So,I only can make image backup and can be used on identical  HMI.Is there any other way to migrate to other HMI without having project file or need to start from beginning.(Build new application software from scratch)?

hello friend,

it depends on how your customer downloaded the program backup, if they selected the backtransfer enable check box while downloading, you can upload it again as complete backup. then it is possible to migrate to other hmi.

I didn't try this before, test and give your feedback. hope this information will help you...

Yes it's possible only in this case. But if not, there is no way except one of the following two alternatives:

• Get the software from the programmer
• Build new application software from scratch.

There's a way to check if the downloaded file on the Panel contains the configuration file or not and can be found the way in the following link.

Another important note, Most of the SIMATIC Panels have limitations on their internal memory. So, if the user enabled the option of back transfer, he should use external memory media as indicated in the attachment of the link bellow:
