DP/DP connection

The network is profibus In HW configuration DP/DPcoupler Release 2 is configured according as picture(see attachment). Is it possible send real values (total amount from flow meters,pressure,etc) from one cpu to the other,if is in object properties in slot of coupler specified unit BYTE,and consistency lenght UNIT see picture. Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (277)	Hi misab, Yes it is possible to send real values (using double words) but you should change the "64 Bytes Output" to "64 Bytes Output consistent". The reason for this is, the "64 Bytes Output" is consistent over a byte whereas the "64 Bytes Output consistent" is consistent over the entire length (64 bytes). What this means is, if you use the "64 Bytes Output" and are transferring a real value double word (= 4 bytes), it is possible that 3 of these bytes will be sent inone cycle and 1 byte will be sent in the next cycle! And obviously this is not good. Since amaximum length of 244 input and 244 output bytes can betransferred per coupler, it is better touse words for transferring analog values.The 16 bit resolution isquite good. By transferring real values, you just save on convert operations. Regards

Do you have any examples? Thanks

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (277)	Hi misab, Take a look at chapter 4.3 - Configuring the DP/DP Coupler in STEP7 in the following manual: DP/DP Coupler Also look at the following FAQ: What are the special features of input/output addressing with the DP/DP coupler? The MOVE is fairly routine. Just make sure all the addresses fall within the process image partition range so that addressing is simpler. Let me know if you have further specific questions. Regards
