DP/DP coupler First Word not Receiving properly

Ayyappan Posts: 68 Rating: (1)	Hello, I have CPU416 -2DP system, This have one profibus network.this network want to be send and receive the data from one third party network .for that I am using DP/DP (6ES7 158-0AD01-0XA0)coupler .here I using CPU onboard profibus means the first input words not receiving properly .Their sending 0 value decimal means I am receiving 256.what is any system offset is their. Suppose I have using CP443-5 (6GK7 443-5DX04-0XE0)means I receiving value properly .please clarified me..........

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well, I am not sure... but I have to say that the by you mentioned behavior is not known until now... therefore I would not say that this is a known problem of the DP/DP Coupler. In your case we have two possibilities, either you have a bad Coupler or the data being transferred is faulty. In your case I would recommend to use a PROFIBUS scope like the Amptolyzer to check the data being transferred on both sides of the Coupler. (!) If we follow the usual strategy the output data of the DP Master on side oneis the input data transferred on the second side and vice versa. So if you compare both data directions you should see what is really being transferred. Best regards J_Bell

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 1/4/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (96)	Hello, the reason is that the DP/DP coupler is writing this bit to tell you the comm is OK and data are transfered succesfully, it could be setby DIA switch on coupler (if I remember well, it's switched on by default). Look to the manual for the DP/DP coupler, chapter 4.2.2. Regards Sydney

Also, in the manual you will find the recommention, NOT to use the first byte for inputs if you are using the DIA - Bit!

I did not know about this feature... the last time I worked with this unit it was still the first version without this feature. I am sorry but the manual tells in chapter 4.2.2 about it really clearly. Best regards J_Bell
