nevaland Experienced Member Joined: 12/23/2008 Last visit: 10/13/2024 Posts: 40 Rating: (0)	Hello, If any one can tell me the architectural constraints of 400 systems that whether they can be used with 300 series or not? And if it is compatible, they have to be on same PROFIBUS network or different, or on ethernet network altogether. I have to design and implement one 400 master with remote IO's and 4 300 slaves on the same PROFIBUS network. The proposed architecture is attached. I am new with Siemens system and working on PCS7 project these days, I have previously worked on DeltaV and HIMA systems. Attachment untitled.GIF (260 Downloads)

You can establish communication between the S7-400H and S7-300 either using Profibus or Ethernet. If your Profibus I/O is redundant, then you need a Y-link for connecting the 315-2DP. If you want to use Ethernet, you need Ethernet interface (CP343-1) on the S7-300 rack.

Can any one give me image or architecture showing Y-link in a redundant network? Hello Nevaland; Look at the following attachments, they are extracted from the manual "Bus Links: DP/PA link and Y-link". The first one shows the architecture schematic, as requested. The second one shows the required hardware to build a Y-Link. The Y-link is a master on the downstrean Profibus side, and is strictly limited to 244 Bytes IN/244 Bytes OUT; check out the data from the manual, you should understand it well before you start designinig your project.
