corleone Posts: 39 Rating: (1)	In a steel plant, there is a system of PECS(pushing emmision). In this system a problem occurs motor is connected to a drive, Whenever we r trying to change the speed of the motor drive is going to trip. Please help me to find the problem. With regards Corleone

The possibility of drive tripping may be overcurrent, shaft displacement, or mismatch RPM w.r.t. Encoder, etc. .

With regards Corleone hi, this problem occur when you are decreasing speed or increasing speed? in thisoccasion some time drive can give overvoltage trip/under voltage tripso you have to increase deceleration/decelerationtime . can you please mention which alarm you are getting? regards, viral patel

AGNIPRAVO DEY Posts: 9 Rating: (1)	SEE, DRIVE CAN TRIP BY DIFFERENT CAUSES, SO WHEN UR DRIVE TRIPS, THE FIRST THING IS TO SEE THE FAULT CODE. IF YOU HAVE MANUAL, THEN FIND THE CAUSES & REMEDIES. BUT AS FAR I GUESS, IF U RAPIDLY DROPS THE SPEED THEN ROTOR COULD RUN FASTER THAN THE RATE OF CHANGE OF STATOR MAGNETIC FIELD. OR SUPPOSE IN CONSTANT TORQUE APPLICATIONS (LIKE CONVEYOR), IF U SUDDENLY WITHDRAW LOAD FROM A RUNNING MOTOR, THEN ALSO NEGETIVE POWER OCCURS.THEN UR DRIVE CAN SAY OVERVOLTAGE OR EVEN OVERSPEED. IN THIS SITUATION, INCREASING THE RAMP DOWN TIME COULD SORT OUT THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE IN SIEMENS DRIVE VDC CONTROLLER IN ENABLED BY DEFAULT, AND IT AUTOMATICALLY INCREASES THE RAMP-DOWN TIME WHEN DC BUS VOLTAGE CROSSES THE UPPER LIMIT. SO IF MANUALLY INCREASED RAMP-DOWN TIME COULD NOT SOLVE THIS ISSUE THEN TRY A DYNAMIC BRAKE UNIT WITH BRAKING TRANSISTOR (IF NOT INBUILT) OR TRY TO ADJUST VDC CONTROLLER PARAMETERS VERY CAREFULLY AFTER READING THE MANUAL. SO EITHER U CLEARLY TELL US THE PROCESS AND FAULT DETAILS, OR U GO FOR MANUAL.
