E/R module Simodrive input Supply voltage boost

1) Filter 1P  6SL3000 - 0BE23-6DA0  burnt while Laser cutting machine was working.

2) Replaced filter( temporary ) with  63 Amp MCB just to check further.

3) On power ON,  - after step 2 (above) -  the filter capacitors in 24 volt SMPS blows within 4-5 seconds  the contactor in the Simodrive E/R module - 6SN1145 - 1BA02 - 0CA1  gets ON.

Another 24 V SMPS also failed along with the first one.

4)  The reason for capacitors/ SMPS  to be blown  was high A/C input voltage (1 Phase) taken from  3 phase supply - R Y B - to the machine.

5) The reason for high voltage in supply - U1 , V1 , W1 -  was Simodrive E/R module - 6SN1145 - 1BA02 - 0CA1 getting ON.

The input supply to E/R module gets changed in following pattern - ( when internal contactor gets energized)....

-----measured with respect to Panel Earth

.....disconnected from 6SN1123-1AA00-0DA2 (2 pcs) and 6SN1123-1AA00-0CA2

........DC link 600 V DC is OK.

........Status LEDs show NORMAL = Umber is ON ,all other OFF.

U1 - 240 v AC (normal )    to   240 v ac (when energized)

V1 -  242 v AC (normal )   to   330 v AC ( when energized )

W1 - 238 v AC (normal )   to  340 v AC ( when energized )

Question- Is this kind of voltage boost in V1 and W1( on switch ON  of E/R ) NORMAL ?

(this boost damages SMPS)

Question - If  not Normal ;then where to check ?( resistance check of IGBT module 6MBI150UB-120-52  shows OK )

 My answer is simple--don't waste time to check and try Non standard Or Non Siemens or not matching original power supply and filter.---if you search by my user name, you can find in 2011--I had post--how many power supply modules blown out due to wrong filer.

Filter MUST match Power supply!!!

do as following try to get from market (eBay or any where ) the same filter and Power supply --I thing you have 36/47KW , --carefully test them off line--not connect other drives --only filter and PS module.--when they are working good, also your input power balance good, then connect others in your system to test.

If you cannot find the original parts from market--PM me--I have most Siemens parts you need

Do you mean to say that ......

1) The power supply can not be tested alone - without filter - ?

2) Is this - (non existence of filter) - the reason for the voltage boost/increase in power supply ?

3) If I use original filter - which we had ordered and received today - my problem of voltage increase will be solved ? 

 #1--The power supply module can be tested alone , but only basic test don't connect so many drives, special NOT connect big spindle drive. 

#2--I don't understand youe question for voltage increase --what do you mean? what is your Mains 3 AC V==? . Balance is most important--Vlotage from 380 to 480 V all goo, but you need check setting DIP switch on top of PS module --follow the Siemens book or new version PS, there is yellow stick on the front of PS module

#3--for your 36/47KW PS, there are Reactor (Chock) and Filter. some time you use 2-in-1.

The Chock is the must, the filter is an option, if you cannot use matched filter--it is better DO NOT use filter--NO filter is better than use wrong filter

 Hello,

Filter burning is a serious problem. Please reply following points.

1. Is it new machine just commissioned or old working machine?

2. Since you mentioned, it is laser cutting machine, is proper engineering designed executed well? Have you bypassed any sensor/protection logic in machine recently?

3. Is machine earthing & laser power source earthing common or separate? Is it in healthy condition, at present? Have you checked earthing resistance value, earthing lekage current? Is there any earth leakage sensor device installed on Laser system?

4. Have you followed Siemens recomandations of installation of filter & E/R modules etc.etc.

Please check above points.

The problem has been solved. The bottom line is : -  the filter was burnt due to the power fluctuation.And no further damage was there - except 3 SMPS.

The 10  years old m/c is in life again with new filter.
