econder "Temposonic" connected to the profibus network

Its profibus address can only be change by a "set slave address" function or a programmer device that I dont have. When I run the service SSA it show me a window with two fields, one is actual address and another is new address. The problem is this fields come out with a fix value and Im not able to edit them. If I accept this fix value it changes the address of the encoder but not to the desire one. For example the default address of the encoder was 125 and I want to set 22, so when I run the SSA it shows me Actual=125, New=3, not editable. So I apply and get addres 3 on the encoder. I attach a screen shot(sorry it is in spanish) By the way Im using a CP5711 to connect my Laptop to profibus. Regards Attachment TemposonicDP - Copy.jpg (160 Downloads)

Kevlarster1 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I ran into this issue with a Tempsonics Linear Distance transducer on a Profibus network. I needed a handheld programming device that connected directly to the LDT in order to set the node address. I suspect you need the same thing for your encoders. Hope this helps.

I sent an email to the encoder manufacturer and they answer that CP5711 (Im using to connect my Laptop to profibus) is not a Class 2 master, so I wont be able to set the profibus address with the set slave address service. So I guest the only solution is to get a profibus programmer. Best regards
