ELICS and siprotic 4

fanana Silver Member Joined: 5/13/2012 Last visit: 9/14/2024 Posts: 179 Rating: (1)	dear experts my manger ask me what is the possibility to connect siprotic 4 to the elics workstation at substation which will be extended by siemens devices , . he said to me that they have IEC 301,and also they would like to see fault recoreder from our devices. i am asking if we install digsi on this device and connect our devices by minicoupler is it OK??? or we need something else i don't understand because i don't know information about ELICS workstation.

I have no idea what is ELICS, but even if it is a computer, I don't recommend installing Digsi on it. Even if Digsi is on a dedicated computer, it doesn't retrieve fault records automatically. You have 3 options: - ELICS should retrieve fault records over IEC103 - Digsi could retrieve fault records manually over a dedicated Digsi network - Sicam PAS could retrieve fault recordsautomatically over a dedicated Digsi network. The dedicated Digsi network can be fiber optic, RS232 or RS485. It depends on whichmodule Siprotecs have. Normally it is the port C. Mike

This port is only for Digsi or Sicam PAS. Digsi doesn't support IEC103, only itsproprietary protocol. With IEC103athe the system port you must use Sicam PAS or another software capable of transmitting fault records over IEC103. you still have the same options, plus one: - ELICS should retrieve fault records over IEC103 - Digsi could retrieve fault records manually over a dedicated Digsi network, this uses the service port from Siprotec - Sicam PAS could retrieve fault recordsautomatically over a dedicated Digsi network, using the service port - Sicam PAS could retrieve fault records automatically over IEC103 using the system port

fanana Silver Member Joined: 5/13/2012 Last visit: 9/14/2024 Posts: 179 Rating: (1)	dear mike thnak you very much for your answer 1- i would like to clarify something ,when you say digsi network you mean network using( mini star coupler siemens ) is it ok or not . 2-the customer give me a connection diagram to our siprotics devices ,connect all our devices by RER 125 ABB master 103 ?!!! connected to the ELICS station ,according to the attached pdf can i use the service port to open digsi ?!!! i am confused , i understand your answer before 3-you said that i can use SICAM PAS ,whcih version can i use i think it would be v 8.02 or not and what licensce should i select ,IEC 103 master ??or what Attachment support.pdf (305 Downloads)

In Siprotec you use the Service Port for this. You can do it using Fiber Optics or a RS485 network. Any Mini starcoupler which are protocol independent will work. Digsi protocol is similar to IEC103 protocol, if the device supports it , will also support Digsi. 2. the "IEC103" communication cards can be used for Digsi or for IEC103 communication, it depends on which slot they are installed. Normally port B is the system interface, therefore the card in this slot can only be used as IEC103. If you put the same card on system port (normally port C or D), it will work for Digsi. I would just avoid RS232, unless you really need it. 3. Yes, you can use Sicam PAS. But be sure what you want to do: - if you already have a system connected to Siprotec via IEC103, you can use PAS with the "Digsi network". In this case you don't need any protocol license, you only need a fullserver license runtimefor 15 devices/2000 datapoints(you can actually put more devices as you will never reach 2000 datapoints). - if Siprotecs are connected directly to PAS only, then you need an IEC103 license as well, plus the runtime license for 15 devices/2000 points. In this case you can save some money if you don't need to send any commands to Siprotec. In this case you buy the IEC103 Monitoring license. In both cases, the fault records will be inside PAS database. To extract them you have some options: use an external fault records manager called PQ Analyzer, or export the files directly from PAS as Comtrade format. For this last option you need a license in PAS called Automatic Comtrade-Export 4. The fault records are in comtrade format, several softwares on the market are able to use them. Sigra is one of them with powerfull tools to analyze them. Sometimes the final customer/operator already has a software for this. If not, you can offer Sigra. Mike
