em241 SMS with with Cell service providers? AT&T is a no go

I contacted AT&T and they do not support texts coming in over an analog line, they said there is no number to enter and didn't know what TAP was. (at least two techs said the same thing) Does anyone know which providers will allow this? thanks John

I know that in Europe this is widely spread. As far as I noticed it is very important for providers to act according the requirements of its customers, if many customers demand such services the Provider will implement one... but if there is no demand, nobody will build up this service. I can only recommend to you to contact other local, national or international service provider regarding this service. Best regards J_Bell

This unit would also allow the transmission of a SMS directly. Sadly some programming would have to be done too... but the system would solve the required function. Best regards J_Bell

I did some research on this GSM modem and it seems like from the following description: telecontrol system for monitoring and controlling distributed plants using wireless communication (GPRS) on the basis of SIMATIC S7-200 and WinCC flexible or WinCC. As a result of its bidirectional communications capability, SINAUT MICRO can handle simple telecontrol tasks. Configuration is carried out using STEP 7 Micro/WIN. that the control system is primarily meant to stay connected to WinCCflexRT or WinCC. I assume I can purchase the Micro kit and just set up the S7-200 to send out SMS? Will that work? I will just not configure the partner side? Also, the catalog indicates the GSM modem connects to the cpu with a PPI adapter. I have a CPU 226 with two ports, one HMI and one free. There is not a wizard configuration utility in MicroWin, I assume the set up is manual via programming utilizing the blocks that come with the kit? I am currently in the field at this project under discussion. It has an em241 with an analog line. I will provide a quotation soon to change this system and add the GSM modem. I appreciate all your advise. John
