Encoder 1&2 difference

Uthay Posts: 47 Rating: (0)	Hello Genius, Our machine axis having dual encoder feedback. One is motor encoder & another one is linear scale. While machine running both encoder difference morethan 500 micron. But machine not triggered any alarm so we are facing some part quality issues. How to creat machine alarm for this issue? which machine data we need to modify? 840D CNC Power line system Regards, Uthay.

The encoder on the motor is used to control the motor and your linear scale is used to position the axis correctly. The most likely cause of a different reading between the two encoders is lost mechanical motion or backlash. On a standard 840D system there is no dynamic monitoring of the two encoder positions. Try taking a trace of the two encoder positions as the axis changes direction. Pee

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	If the motor encoder is set to sync from the direct encoder (or they are both absolute), you should be able to set axis MD parameter 36510 to a non-zero value. If the difference between the encoders exceeds that value, you will get an alarm. HTH, SteveA
