Hello Jalil; What type of encoder are you planning to use? You can use a built-in High-Speed counter (HSC) with an incremental encoder on a S7-200 CPU: (From the S7-200 System Manual: S7-200 System Manual, starting at page 118) Typically, a high-speed counter is used as the drive for a drum timer, where a shaft rotating at a constant speed is fitted with an incremental shaft encoder. The shaft encoder provides a specified number of counts per revolution and a reset pulse that occurs once per revolution Some help and hints from the forum: Encoder reading from S7 - 200 CPU 226 What are S7-200 Programming Tips and where can I obtain them? Download the Tips and Tricks and open Tip #4. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello, Sorry you can't use this encoder (directly), you need 24V pulses. With a TTL to HTL converter, i.e. this one you can use this encoder. Regards, Marcjan |

Is that CPU 224XP? Because only PLC224XP can "detect" 5V inputs and outputs. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Hello, As my friends Umencho and Marcjan sugessted, you can use CPU224XP. With only I0.3 to I0.5, you can catch 5V DC inputs. For sure you have to program these inputs as a high speed counter. You should use HSC4 Or you can use normal CPU like CPU224 with external opto-couplers See thisthread. Hope this helps.
