Which type should I use for this CPU. Thanks Dear efe1409, I am not sure that I have understod you correctlly. Please descripe your problem in more details. If you want to read the encoder signal, you can do it usin FM350. It's suitable for incremental encoders. Another lower cost way, is to use one of the compact CPUs like CPU 312C, CPU313C or CPU314C. Dear efe1409, As you have a rotation machine, before selecting the CPU or module that will read the encoder value, you have first to select the encoder. I mean here, you have to decide if you will work with Incremental encoderor Absolute encoder. It's too important. The differences between the two types of encoders can be found her in this thread. After the selection of the suitable encoder for your machine, simplly you will be able to select the suitable module / CPU. Note that S7-300 Compact CPUs can read only incremental encoders using their integrated I/Os. Regards,
