Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, With normal incremental encoders to reference the axis you require a switch normally positioned at the end of travel. During referencing the axis travels onto the switch and then references off the next encoder zero mark. With distance coded the axis move about 100mm and the axis then references. No switch required and referencing can take place anywhere. On long axes distance coded can save time. Also on some machines it is not possible to get to the end of axis travel when a component is loaded. Can the 802C handle distance coded ? No Pee
