error after system restore

simaticmanager Posts: 150 Rating: (5)	dear all. due to some reason i had to restore my laptop at back date.(just before one date back) the restore operation was successful but when i tried to open my old s7 project files in simatic manager there was no configuration and s7 programm i found the window was showing only the project name and nothing. it happens with my all project files. i just did it on another pc forjust to checkthe same problem i found there also. i also checked the the directory where the projects were stored i found all the folders there. i dont know wht is missing. pls anyone can suggest who i can get my backup projects back.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (278)	I would say this is normal behavior. Browse for each of your projects once (File/Open/Browse) and from then on you'll be able to see them again.

simaticmanager Posts: 150 Rating: (5)	thnks for ur response, but i have already tried this but could not able to see my project data. actully when i browsed to open my saved project the project opens without any error message but there appears no project data only the project name is appeared which can not be expand to see the submenu like staion , s7 programm, blocks. it seems to be newly created project and no station is enterd. i also tried to insert simatic 300 staion in the same project but it gives some error message. the archieve and retrieve process is also not stood usefull for the case.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (278)	simaticmanager: You can try what Sydney suggested (Save As with reorganization and a different project name) but I am not sure this will help, The reason I thinkit will not helpis, the project is not really corrupted in the usual sense. It's got more to do with the Registry references that are not matching after your restore (see attachment). I also had a similar problem once and from then on I follow the steps below before every complete system restore: 1. Archive all my projects and store them separately. 2. Delete all my projects (from Simatic Manager). 3. Restore my machine. 4. Retrieve my old projects. Attachment Dokument1.pdf (31 Downloads)

simaticmanager Posts: 150 Rating: (5)	dear phantom and sydnee thnks for ur rresponse. i had already tried the reorganise process . i think after seeing the attachment that it is registry problem definately. now i should keep in practice to save my project data in compressed format. againif it is registry prob then is there any chance to solve it

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (278)	simaticmanager: It is not really a problem with the registry but a mismatch between your current installation and the installation before you restored your machine. A "repair" of the registry can be attempted as a last resort (if you have lost months of work) using registry repair tools. But, as they say, there is no subtitute for timely backups! All the best.
