Error in file name in NC memory

makaveli Posts: 259 Rating: (5)	Hi, I have strange problem. In NCU is store some file with wrong name (have comma in name). Because of that it's not possible open or unload to hd, delete or change name. I'm interest what is inside of this file....Someone know have to open this file or do something? Myself i wold be --> Save MPFs, SPFs . . . Check, if i had an NC-Backup. If yes --> Clear NC-memory, load an older NC-Backup in NC. Or you can wait, while all the Machine-Memory are loos. (Perhaps the machine is already work for more years) Often with this error --> the NCU-memory is damage.

When this file (inside informations in this) are is good, then you can read the Information "indside this file) from an old backup. (NCK-Backup) If this "inside Informations" are damage --> you dont need this informations. makaveli When NC memory is broken you must change whole NCU? Normaly it is not possible to save an "wrong filename". (So far i know) Make saving with standalone backup. ( *.mpf . . .) At first i think is the best to clear the memory. Then loaded the old NC-Backup. Before you renew the NC-Card, try the old NC-Card with reloaded Information. (NC-Restore) If this NC-Card is working fine, you dont renew this card. You can try: Go into DOS-Mode. Search/change the filename from/in the Harddisk. Perhaps you find it on the Harddrive.

This error could happen when in the computer or memory card that you use for the transfer of the mpf files there are some viruses (some of them modify the header of the file and add some bugs) and when you transfer them into the controller the name become useless for the controller. I advise you to check it for viruses and remove the files from windows service menu. Good luck Nit

But the machine is working fine so I leave it as it is. I don't know how to protect the machines from viruses which modify the extension of the header in the files which are made on other computers on which the programmers make the programs. I was thinking to reinstall the default configuration and then to install an old backup but I'm afraid that the corrupted file may remain. Till now I've suggested to the programmers to check the header of any program they upload into the controller. If anyone can suggest something else I'll be glad to try it. Best Nit
