Error while compiling sms communication library (FB154) in TIA v13

You mean, the CONV block will not allow you to convert from one string tag to another string tag? You want to copy a string? That is a different block. Look in the instruction palette for the char/string blocks and select the option that suits your needs for working with strings. Commands for strings tend to start with S_ so your CONV could be S_CONV (to convert from string to something else like DINT or INT or REAL) or S_MOVE (for copy).

So in Which Version SMS_communication_library is executed properly, I am using 1212C DC/DC/DC. STEP 7 Basic V11 ,only check if the CPU is supported by the old software! keu_tan Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I am a newbie in Siemens PLC. After struggling for a few days, I found a solution for this FB154 in TIA V13. The version of the S_Convert in V11 is an old one (v3.0), which allow String to String conversion. S_Convert in V13 is a later version. At first, I upgraded the project to TIA V13, copy the FB154 program into new PLC, and have compile errors of S_Convert. I then replace all the S_Convert with the older version S_Convert (v3.0) from instruction list. Tada, compile error free. Then upgrade the project to TIA V15 and with happy ending. Hope this will help someone who is using the same hardware configuration, S7-1200, CM 1241 and MD 720 GSM.
